Our organization received CSR fund from Intersea Maritime Limited to support both shelter homes for their additional requirements. There were 459 toiletry items distributed to the shelter for urban homeless- for men at mandaiveli and 1007 toiletry items distributed to special shelter for women at RSRM Hospital Royapuram, Chennai. Funded By Intersea Maritime LtdInauguration of Health manual guide publication and health trainingThe Health conference on Health improvement and prevention of diseases held on 21-08-2024 between 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at World University Service centre, Egmore , chennai. Mrs. Maryam Abdul Khadir, secretary, 4M Trust Inagurated the conference and published the Health Guide. she shared her thoughts on importance of health especially for women and how to be neat and clean and to lead healthier life. Also insisted on nutritious food , clean water, sanitation, disaster management, waste management, vegetable Garden, and make use of the training manual for their day to day life. The secretary also appreciated the 4M Trust manager, and staff and trainer for their best health guide. Mrs. Swetha, office secretary, Intersea Maritime Ltd. Shared her thought on women related life style diseases, yoga, meditation, children’s education, and how to be clean.
Purpose of the programWith the increase of people living in Chennai city, the impact of urban living on human health is now a growing concern. The rapid growth of slum populations in Chennai is an increasing challenge for health personnel and service providers. Slums have often been conceptualized as areas of concentrated poverty, which comprise a social cluster that engenders a distinct set off health problems. So, it is the utmost importance to ensure health services for these growing numbers of city dwellers, especially the Self Help Group women, Adolescent girls and children where we work with. Due to the lack of Health service, 4 M Trust felt the need for health consciousness program and organized and conducted Health training in coordination with the support of Intersea maritime Ltd, chennai. 4M Trust took the initiative and prepared health training Manual for proper implementation of Health training. The training was implemented in 4 levels by the staff members. 1) The staff members were trained by its manager Mr. Periyathambi, Manager, Mr. K. Christopher, Trainer, gave the training for Animators and staff members Mrs. K. Premila, Mrs. S. Vijaya, and Mrs. Tamilarasi were given the training for the SHG members at their respective field such as north chennai, south chennai and central chennai slums
Following topics were covered
1) Physical, mental and social Health The basic causes for Health issues especially Women and children residing in slums face many problems like improper sanitation, unhygienic environmental conditions, social, economic, health, educational and cultural problems and how to tackle it. The problems inherent in slums are health hazards and Life style diseases Lack of basic amenities like safe drinking water, proper housing, drainage, and waste disposal services; make slum women and children vulnerable to infections. Poor sanitary conditions and poor quality of water lead to illnesses like diarrhea and other water borne diseases, affecting their health to a great extent. |
